Do The Right Thing
Members of Miami-Dade Schools Police Department and the City of Miami Police Department, along with elected members of the Miami-Dade Schools District, attend the “Do The Right Thing / Back Without A Bang!” Youth Rally Against Violence 2013.
This is a back-to-school youth rally against violence where 600 City of Miami fifth grade students take a unique “Victory Against Violence” pledge led by Miami Chief of Police Manuel Orosa. Each student will receive a wallet-sized laminated pledge card and an “I Took the Pledge” T-shirt color coded by school. They will also be asked to sign a giant pledge card to be sent to the Governor.
The schools represented were; Citrus Grove, Eneida Massas Hartner, Frederick Douglass, Holmes, Lenora B. Smith, Morningside, Paul L. Dunbar, and Phillis Wheatley Elementary Schools. This event was held to promote the theme of non-violence as students embark on the 2013/2014 school year. The event took place at Jungle Island (Parrot Bowl) on September 27, 2013.
