In an effort to promote healthy police/youth relations, the tickets were provided to one of our officers who issued them to students from the Miami Edison Senior High School Culinary Arts Program. These lucky students had the opportunity to join their favorite chefs and culinary talent for a fun-filled day of food, fitness and learning. The family-friendly event at the Festival allowed our students to learn the basics of healthy eating up close with Food Network celebrity chefs Rachael Ray, Guy Fieri and many more.
Dr. Pablo Ortiz, Provost, stated he was thrilled to learn his students would have the opportunity to attend this event. Apparently, the students truly enjoyed their visit to Jungle Island, as they expressed this to Dr. Ortiz and their teacher.
The M-DSPD relies on building and developing relationships within the school community, which fosters a mutual trust and respect with our students. Over the past four years, M-DSPD has participated in several field trips and other special events, enabling students and police to spend quality time together, outside the school setting. We are extremely pleased to be able to include our students in these types of positive events. This campaign will continue as we strive to strengthen police/youth relations within our school community.
