On Monday, August 21, 2017, Officer C. Rodas responded to a shooting in the area of Miami South-Ridge Senior High School. He immediately placed the school on lock-down as a precaution and proceeded to the area of the shooting. Officer Rodas was first to arrive on the scene and located the victim, who was suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim being alert and conscious was able to answer questions and provide pertinent information to Officer Rodas regarding the subject shooter. Officer Rodas remained with the victim, providing first aid until the arrival of Miami-Dade Fire Rescue. Due to Officer Rodas’ swift and professional actions the victim was kept conscious and alert throughout the incident and expected to make a full recovery.
