Three Miami Dade Schools Police officers recently attended a three-day dignitary protection training course and promptly put their new-found skills to use when Spain’s Royal Family visited Coral Way K-8 this past week.
Sergeant Al Palacio, Detective Norman Santana, and Detective J.T. Messenger completed the course held by instructors with extensive background and experience in conducting Dignitary Protection Details for public officials ranging from mayors to International Heads of State.
The primary goal was for these officers to build a strong foundation and necessary skills for Dignitary protection using a course outline and practical exercises. Sergeant Palacio and Detectives Santana and Messenger demonstrated the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to effectively conduct Dignitary protection details.
